What happens if I insert a condition in an Aivie campaign and leave the “No” path empty?

An empty “No” path causes the contact to get stuck in the campaign.
Aivie does not check the condition again – so the contact will never be moved on.
Therefore, always add an action such as “Remove from campaign” at the end to ensure clean processes.

If you use a Condition in a campaign, you can define two paths:

  • Yes path: Is executed if the condition is met.
  • No path: Is executed if the condition is not met.

It is often assumed that Aivie (or the campaign cron job) automatically rechecks the contact later if the “No” path is empty. However, this is not the case.

This is how it actually works:

  1. First run:
    Aivie checks the condition.
  2. Condition FALSE:
If the condition is not met (e.g. “Wait 2 hours since last website visit”), Aivie leads the contact into the No path.
  3. Empty path:
If the No path is empty – i.e. without action, waiting time or “Remove from campaign” – the contact remains there.
Nothing else happens until you intervene manually or rebuild the campaign – and then it can lead to very unpredictable behavior.
  4. No automatic re-check:
Aivie does not check the condition again. So the contact is not repeatedly tested in a loop.
It remains permanently “stuck” at this point.

Recommendation:
Do not leave any paths empty in campaigns.
If you do not want to perform an action in the “No” path, at least add a “Remove from campaign” action.

This keeps your campaign clear, and you can see at any time which contacts are active or have already been completed.
