Who is Studer Cables?

Studer Cables is an industrial company with a broad product range consisting of a variety of raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished goods. For these materials, compliance confirmations must be regularly obtained from suppliers and kept up to date.

Material compliance is not a one-time process, but a recurring process that must function reliably, comprehensibly and efficiently.

What makes Studer Cables special?

Studer Cables works with complex product structures in which a product consists of several materials and individual materials can in turn occur in different products. At the same time, individual suppliers deliver several materials across different products.

This complexity requires a clean data structure and clear processes – especially in the area of material compliance.

Why do customers work with Studer Cables?

Studer Cables’ customers rely on:

  • reliable product quality
  • transparent material composition
  • compliance with regulatory requirements

Material compliance is a central component of the customer relationship.

Challenge

The existing material compliance query was very manual:

  • Suppliers had to be repeatedly contacted by email
  • Feedback was unstructured
  • Documents were distributed
  • Product-material relationships were not directly evaluable

It was particularly time-consuming to specifically check the relevant materials of a product in the event of customer inquiries, instead of manually searching through entire material lists.

“Working with Aivie has been very personal and solution-oriented from the start. Our requirements were well understood, our needs were addressed, and communication was clear.

This enabled us to achieve our goal of mapping a complex compliance process efficiently and transparently, leading to significant time savings.”

Goals

Studer Cables wanted material compliance:

  • query automatically
  • document in a structured manner
  • make it evaluable per product, material and supplier
  • save internal time and simplify processes

It was also important that suppliers are easily integrated and that the process remains scalable.

Our approach

Aivie was used as a web-based Material Compliance Tool that combines surveys, automation, communication, and reporting.

Approach

1. Clear data structure for material compliance

Products, materials and suppliers were logically linked to each other. Materials are clearly assigned to products and can be assigned to several suppliers. The database can be easily updated via import if required, e.g. from SAP.

2. Automated supplier inquiry

Suppliers receive structured forms in which they only see the materials they have supplied. Compliance information can be provided or documents uploaded for each material.
For conflict minerals, uploading a CMRT or EMRT document is mandatory.

If there are no answers, Aivie reminds automatically – until all relevant materials have been answered.

3. Central Reporting & Evaluation

All submissions are displayed in reports. The compliance status can be filtered by product, material, supplier or certificate and can be exported as Excel. Several submissions per supplier also remain comprehensibly documented.

“For Quality Management, transparency is crucial.

With Aivie, we have the material compliance status up-to-date and traceable at all times—down to the material and product level. This significantly simplifies internal audits and external inquiries.”
