In Aivie, there are two common ways to include a document, such as a PDF, in an email. The recommended method is to send it via an asset with a download link.
Recommended approach: Asset as a download link
- Create asset
Upload the desired document in the Assets section (e.g., a PDF, white paper, or certificate). - Create email
Create or edit your email as usual in the email editor. - Insert asset as download link
Insert a link to the asset in the email content. Recipients can download the document directly.
This option has several advantages:
– The email remains small and loads faster.
– Downloads are tracked and can be evaluated.
– The data can be used for follow-up campaigns or success statistics.
Alternative: Asset directly as an attachment
Alternatively, an asset can also be added directly as an attachment via the email’s advanced settings. However, this is generally not recommended because:
- Larger emails
Attachments significantly increase the email size, which can lead to longer loading times and poorer deliverability. - No usage tracking
Opens or views of the attached PDF cannot be tracked. This means that important data for evaluations and automated follow-ups is missing. - Size limit for PDF attachments
PDF attachments must be no larger than 1 MB. Larger files cannot be attached or will cause delivery problems.
Tip: Use personalized PDFs
If content is to be individually tailored to the recipient, personalized PDFs are a good option. These are generated dynamically and linked as an asset. Typical use cases are certificates, personalized reports or individual lead magnets.

In short:
For measurable, high-performance and automatable campaigns, sending via assets with a download link is always recommended instead of classic email attachments.
