HubSpot Pricing for Marketing Automation
If you just want to test things out a bit, HubSpot already gives you solid options in the free version of Marketing Hub. However, if you want to test Marketing Automation properly for your business, then you need to skip the low-cost Starter version and go straight to Professional, and that’s a big jump in terms of cost:

With HubSpot, you always have to commit for 1 year, but you have the option to pay HubSpot prices monthly, or directly pay everything at once for the whole year. Then you get a 10% discount. Once you choose Professional, an onboarding fee of EUR 2’760 is added. There, you’ll be introduced to the software by a HubSpot representative, including tips and tricks on how to properly set up your environment.
Do contacts cost extra?
Professional costs 23 times more than the Starter version for new customers in the first year. And if you’re seriously considering marketing automation for your business, you can’t avoid the more expensive option if you want to use Hubspot as your software. Now, it’s still important to understand that you’re not only paying for the software and onboarding, but also for the contacts you can manage in HubSpot. A distinction is made between marketing contacts and normal contacts. Normal contacts you can add up to 15’000’000, as soon as you want to approach contacts via HubSpot (marketing contacts), it will cost you extra.
The big difference between Starter and Professional here is the jump. In Starter you jump in steps of 1’000 and in Professional in steps of 5’000. This table shows the differences in HubSpot costs even better:

It is also important to note that if you have always used the free version so far, the contacts will be counted as soon as you switch to a paid version. For example, if you regularly send emails to 10,000 contacts and switch to Professional, you’ll have to pay CHF 16,602 in HubSpot pricing for the first year and CHF 13,842 for all subsequent years. Provided that your contact list has not grown over 12’000 in this period.

What are the HubSpot alternatives, at lower prices?

Why is Mailchimp not listed as an alternative?
Mailchimp is a powerful email marketing tool. But marketing automation goes much further than just email marketing. Marketing Automation aims to automate and simplify various marketing tasks. To do this, you need a tool with cross-channel functions and the ability to use an editor to automate logical processes based on countless attributes and information. So email marketing is a part of marketing automation and that’s why we didn’t include Mailchimp as an alternative to HubSpot pricing.
