Aivie offers the option of protecting your forms with reCAPTCHA from Google. You can activate the reCAPTCHA plugin with the following steps.
What is reCAPTCHA?
Google uses the reCAPTCHA service to determine whether the user of your website is an honest visitor or a malicious agent. The biggest advantage of Google reCAPTCHA v3 is that users no longer have to take an explicit test. Instead, a score is calculated based on various data.
As an Aivie user, you can also fine-tune the Google API, for example with different access policies for different areas of the site. For certain forms, a score of over 0.9 may be required to prevent attacks and SPAM, while a score of 0.7 is sufficient for normal use.
What data is transmitted?
To determine trustworthiness, the following data, among other things, is forwarded to Google in the background:
- IP address
- Referrer URL
- Operating system
- Cookies
- Mouse movements/keyboard strokes
- Dwell time
- Device settings (e.g. language settings or location)
Is reCAPTCHA data protection compliant?
This depends on your local laws and should definitely be discussed with a lawyer. As far as we know, there is no definitive ruling. What is clear is that it is widespread and used as a de facto standard by many companies.
We recommend including it in the privacy policy.
What does a form protected with reCAPTCHA look like?
At Aivie, we protect all forms with reCAPTCHA v3. You can therefore take a look at our contact form as an example: To the contact form.
